Description and Teaching Objectives

This degree was set up in collaboration with the School of Medicine and aims at training professionals who master knowledge, principles, methods and techniques in the field of Engineering, hence contributing to identifying and solving problems of medical and biological interest.
In line with Bachelor’s and Master Degrees in Medical Engineering, it is believed that only by completing a Master Degree can graduates acquire the full expertise required in a professional context in terms of knowledge, skills and flexibility.
The course includes classes of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics which lay the foundations of modelling. Furthermore, studies on the mechanics of biological systems and structures of biomaterials are deepened too, including topics of Physiology and Human Anatomy.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can complete their education with a Master Degree.
The main work opportunities for graduates relate to the following areas in Biomedical Engineering: companies operating in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors as manufacturers and suppliers for systems, equipment and materials for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation; public and private hospitals; service companies managing medical equipment and systems for telemedicine; specialised laboratories.
Their main profiles and tasks include: equipment and system management; technical functions in healthcare organisations; system management (in particular health-oriented ones).
