Description and Teaching Objectives
This Degree features among the architecture courses mutually recognised by EU Member States pursuant to Directive 2005/36/EC.
The course aims at training highly qualified professionals who can not only master specific methods and operating equipments to design architecture and urban development works, but also competently manage a proper execution of such works. Hence, the following fields have particular relevance: architectural design of buildings and urban areas; innovative building methods for architecture and engineering works; history of architecture, construction and engineering; restoration and conservation of architectural and structural heritage, both ancient and modern.
Teaching classes are adequately divided into theoretical and practical aspects in order to ensure that students can conceive projects meeting aesthetic, technical and economic requirements. Such teaching aims at ensuring the acquisition of creative abilities and professionalism related to an ever-evolving operational reality. To this end, every year experimental educational paths are offered, so that the humanistic and scientific profiles can be equally balanced.
This educational process is developed since the first years through basic training activities that deepen disciplines such as mathematical, historical, physical-technical and installation subjects applied to architecture and disciplines of architectural representation. During the following years students follow specific training activities, particularly focusing on: architectural and urban planning; history and implementation of construction techniques; building and construction site techniques; Statics, Construction Science and Technique, Geotechnics Fundamentals; restoration theories and techniques; estimating, economic, social and legal disciplines for architecture and urban development. Moreover, the course is enhanced by complementary training activities in areas similar or related to Engineering, Construction and Architecture. To further complete the course, students may choose other educational activities according to their particular skills as well as practical traineeship activities.
