International cooperation in scientific research and technological innovation is a strategic component of Italian foreign policy. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes and supports its development through the Directorate General for Cultural Promotion and Cooperation.
There are two types of Executive Programmes for Bilateral Cooperation: Cultural and/or Scientific and Technological. They represent the executive step of Agreements signed by the Italian Government and foreign partner countries, and provide for the implementation of joint activities agreed on by the two signatory countries.
