This Degree aims at training graduates with solid basic education and a wide range of scientific skills in Information Engineering to maintain, manage and operate on systems and equipment designed to get, process and transmit information.
It provides the technical aspects needed to interpret and exploit the advantages of continuous innovation in Electronics for the benefit of various production sectors (e.g. industry, public administration, services), as well as methodological tools to analyse a wide range of physical phenomena relating to different stages of information processing, hence contributing to innovative, medium-complexity equipment synthesis.
To this end, subject content and schedule are designed to favour students' gradual development in acquiring knowledge.
Electronic Engineers are designers: they are technicians who can make new components and systems, as well as understand and use existing electronic systems. Graduates are able to effectively follow experienced technicians’ instructions; skills leading to original project solutions are generally expected from Master Degree graduates.
A typical employment filed is found in the electronic components industry. Italy hosts corporations (e.g. STMicroelectronics) as well as SMEs in new sectors: the most important ones are connected to applicative sensors in large manufacturing industries, telecommunication, automotive, space, industrial control systems.
Typical examples are Rome-based companies in the industrial area of Tiburtina (Selex SI, Thales Alenia Spazio, Rheinmetall, Elettronica SpA, etc.). The versatile character of such education and broad training characterising electronic engineers make them professional figures with useful skills to be applied in all emerging sectors of the new economy.
