Description and Teaching Objectives
This Degree trains highly qualified professionals through thematic and methodological insights in the energy sector. More specifically, it ensures adequate proficiency in areas of heat, hydraulic and electric machines, energy production systems as well as industrial and environmental Thermofluid Dynamics. Graduates can hence meet the needs of a significant sector in the labour market with regard to conception, planning, design and management of complex and/or innovative energy systems and processes.
This course provides advanced knowledge of: physical, chemical and electrical principles linked to energy issues; industrial and environmental Thermofluid Dynamics; fluid and electric machines; energy and environmental systems; conventional, advanced and innovative power plants as well as issues regarding their management and control.
Such training also covers: interventions and initiatives of industrial, civil and territorial nature with significant value and/or impact in terms of energy/environmental issues; design of machinery, equipment and plants for energy processing, conversion and distribution; problems regarding functional assessment and optimised management of complex energy plants and systems.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may work in: public and private companies involved in feasibility studies, technical and economic analysis, production planning and rational energy use; industries producing and/or selling and/or using machinery and equipment to convert and/or transform mechanical, electric and thermal energy; optimal energy planning, management and use.
They can perform basic and industrial research on processes and systems relating to energy conversion, transformation and use. Furthermore, they can apply their sound knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, theoretical and applied Thermofluid Dynamics, energy technologies for the conception, design and management of energy plants and systems and of their components, hence making full use of resources with a minimum environmental impact. They can design, test, manage and verify the functioning of complex energy systems based on the use of primary sources and different energy carriers: industrial equipment, technical facilities, power stations, (thermoelectric and hydroelectric plants, plants using renewable energies), etc.
