Description and Teaching Objectives
This Degree aims at training experts in protecting mankind and the environment from harmful effects resulting from human activities and adverse natural factors, as well as experts in land and resources management at a local and global level.
This Degree trains engineers with broad interdisciplinary skills to design and build works in Civil Engineering (e.g. in hydraulics, geotechnics, town planning, transport), Plant Design (equipment), Environmental Engineering (water and waste treatment, remediation of contaminated sites, electromagnetic pollution), Energy Engineering (renewable and sustainable energy sources). They can perform such activities in a specialised way, being aware of the constraints, conditions and operational implications posed by environmental and land safety, protection and compatibility.
Such course provides students with a wide range of common classes, which they can round up in the second year by choosing more detailed teachings in areas such as Civil Engineering, sustainability as well as environmental and land safety.
Career Opportunities
MA Graduates acquire a degree of applicative knowledge which BA graduates lack. They know how to develop original solutions for a wide range of issues of technical, technological and project design nature. They can design complex components and systems (plant) in environmental and territorial areas.
Graduates can work in the following fields: construction design and management in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy Infrastructure; analysis and assessment of environmental impacts; activity coordination and direction in prevention, protection and safety in the workplace and in the environment; design and management of environmental monitoring systems; production of environmental and territorial information and data.
Such positions concern areas of Environmental and Territorial Engineering and include: project design for infrastructure, plants, information systems and territorial services; drafting spatial plans for environmental protection and waste disposal; applied research and innovative development of technologies related to the interaction between engineering works and the environment; earth observation and environmental impact assessment.
