Italian Chamber of Deputies to host ASVIS international conference

About one -third of America’s surface area is devoted to pastureland for beef cattle, that consume far wider croplands and forests. A shift from a beef to a poultry based diet, or to a pescatarian one, or vegetarian (and vegan) would have a significant positive impact on the environment.

Mass extinctions tied to past climate changes

Gene drives thwarted by emergence of resistant organisms

In the Italian city of Terni the project Target Malaria is studying a species of African mosquitoes using the gene drives technology to eliminate diseases. Put in wild conditions, some mosquitoes have developed a form of resistance to genetic variation produced by gene drives, that researchers are trying to understand.
