Description and Teaching Objectives
This Degree aims at providing students with methodological tools and knowledge necessary to address our complex ICT (Information and Communication Technology) scenario, which lays the foundation for information acquisition and processing systems, information transfer and distribution, applications services, infrastructures and system management. Such elements can be an integral part of the modern Internet and/or rely on Internet platforms. The ability to cope with such a scenario requires a set of interdisciplinary knowledge. In particular: i) technological and infrastructural knowledge; ii) specific computer and development skills for ICT applications services; iii) methods for data analysis and processing; iv) economic/managerial skills.
This Degree offers solid education in the fields of Internet technologies, telecommunications, computer science and electronics; it is supplemented by expertise in signal transmission, telecommunication networks and major components used in telecommunication systems within which graduates must be able to identify, formulate and solve problems through up-to-date methods, techniques and tools.
The course is divided into two curricula starting from the third year: Internet for Businesses and Devices and Systems.
Career Opportunities
The professional fields graduates can access include: computer-aided design; production, management and organisation; assistance to technical and commercial structures. They can be employed in manufacturing and service companies, remote sensing and public administration. They can also work as freelancers in: public and private companies managing and/or developing ICT services and applications; small and medium high-tech ICT enterprises; system and services integrators; ICT consulting companies; regulatory, standardisation and certification bodies.
Graduates can operate as:
• employees (analysts, programmers, managers or operators in infrastructure assisted design, ICT services and systems, Internet applications designers and developers for web information systems and mobile devices);
• consultants (configuring networks and services in local areas, certifiers, troubleshooting);
• entrepreneurs (innovative web services and mobile terminals, infrastructure administrators and operators including fixed and mobile operators and Internet Service Providers, platform administrators and managers for the development of ICT and multimedia services.)
