Descrizione e obiettivi formativi
After an initial cycle of lectures on the movements and poetics of the 19 th and 20 th Century Spanish literature, the course will deal with a reading and commentary of "Entre visillos" by Carmen Martín Gaite.
"Fathers and Daughters in Shakespeare's Plays" The texts which will be discussed in detail will be "The Merchant of Venice", "King Lear" and "The Tempest". The theme of the relationship between fathers and sons, or especially daughters, is fundamental in the so-called late plays. But it is also present in some of the early texts, and in some tragedies, "King Lear" in particular.
The German detective novel The course deals with some of the most famous detective novels by Friedrich Dürrenmatt and Friedrich Glauser. It also examines the novels Der Geisterseher (1797) by Friedrich Schiller as it has some features of detective stories, and the narrative by Fontane Unterm . The course will point out the main differences between the standard patterns of successful ‘commercial’ novels (e. g. by A. Christie) of this genre and the ‘literary ‘detective novels and stories; in fact Dürrenmatt and Glauser aim at overthrowing traditional patterns and roles and at subverting the model of classical rational detection à la Sherlock Holmes, thus destroying the reassuring effect of the ending of the story. Lessons will be held mainly in Italian. Third year students are required to read in German the texts by Dürrenmatt and by Glauser.
Introduction to Apollinaire poetry.
Mod. Mod. B: The course aims to take up the theme of the re-elaboration and of the contamination of genres in contemporary Russian literature, with particular focus on the novel: how it has adapted/is adapting, what its function is, and what are the main tendencies.
Twentieth century poetry: comparing generations The course will analyse the poetics of some poets who influenced the 20th century Polish literature
