January was 3rd warmest on record for the globe

January 2017 was the third warmest in the 1880-2017 record, behind 2016 and 2007, the global sea ice extent was the smallest of the satellite records and the snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere was the sixth largest in the 51-year period of record. All continents experienced extreme temperatures.
