Description and Teaching Objectives
This Degree aims at completing the training of professionals who master the knowledge of Engineering principles, methods and techniques, hence contributing to identifying and solving problems of medical and biological interest.
This course is the natural prosecution of the Bachelor’s Degree bearing the same name. It deepens students’ knowledge of Physics and deals with the study of instruments and systems; it particularly focuses on the principles and methods required to analyse, design, manage and secure major biomedical equipment and hospital facilities.
Moreover, interactions of physical-biological nature are analysed, as they act on tissues or organs at a pathological or physiological level; this is done by concentrating on modelling and correct approaches regarding intervention projects (e.g. for prostheses).
Career Opportunities
Graduates can work in companies operating in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors as manufacturers and suppliers for systems, equipment and materials for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation; public and private hospitals; service companies managing medical equipment and systems for telemedicine; specialised laboratories.
They can perform the following functions: design of equipment and systems; management functions in healthcare organisations; management of large systems, in particular health-oriented ones; research and development.
