DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING OBJECTIVES
This Degree aims at training of professionals in Neurophysiology.
Graduates can use the most appropriate methods to record bio-electrical phenomena and directly intervene onto patients and equipment; hence, they can perform a diagnostic-instrumental work programme as well as neurophysiological research set out in close cooperation with specialised doctors. They acquired extensive technical skills related to the instrumentation of supplied equipment. They know how to: assess various issues related to Neurophysiology and use diagnostic-instrumental techniques to verify electro-cerebral activities for clinical and/or legal purposes; integrate into team works and collaborate with all professionals involved in clinical care as far as prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care are concerned, both within and outside hospitals; participate in inter/disciplinary research projects.
In order to achieve such specific objectives, training activities provide for disciplinary integration through teaching modules and modern teaching tools. Classical teaching is completed via guided traineeships at notable scientific healthcare facilities.
Laboratory activities and traineeships are performed under tutors’ supervision and guidance: they belong to relevant professional areas, are carefully appointed after assessing their professional and educational curricula and are properly trained for this task.
Course attendance is mandatory for all activities - both theoretical classes and traineeship.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
This Degree qualifies graduates as Neurophysiology Technicians, i.e. healthcare professionals active in most of European Community countries.
Following medical prescriptions, graduates apply specific diagnostic methods in neurological and neurosurgical fields, ensuring preparation and control of supplied equipment and tools. They can work as freelancers or employees in the Italian National and Regional Health Service as well as within accredited private facilities. Further positions include Neurophysiology Laboratories of the National Health System and private facilities. Activities in this sector can be performed within university research laboratories too.
