Requirements, format and exam dates for the Online English Language Exam.
The Online English Language Exam is organised by the Language Centre (CLA) of Tor Vergata University of Rome for international applicants during the 2026/2027 admissions cycle who are required to demonstrate their English language proficiency for admission to degree programmes taught in English.
The exam assesses applicants' English language proficiency in accordance with the requirements set out in the Procedures for the Entry, Stay, Enrolment of International Students and the Recognition of Qualifications for Higher Education Courses in Italy (Academic years 2026/2027 and 2027/2028).
Successful candidates who achieve at least CEFR level B2 will be issued with an official statement certifying their English language proficiency. The statement must be uploaded to their Universitaly application as part of the pre-enrolment procedure.

Applicants who have completed the online form to request the English Language Exam will receive an email from the International Students Office containing their personal login credentials, the examination schedule, and detailed instructions on how to access the online platform.
The exam consists of two parts:
Applicants must successfully pass the written test before being admitted to the oral test.
The written test is delivered online through the University's examination platform. It is a progressive test covering proficiency levels from A1 to C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The format and content of the examination are aligned with the descriptors of the CEFR.
The written test lasts 45 minutes and must be completed independently, without the use of digital tools.
The test can only be taken on a PC. Tablets and smartphones are not supported. Since the test includes a listening section, applicants must ensure that their device have adequate audio output. The use of headphones is strongly recommended.
Applicants who successfully pass the written test will be invited to the oral test, which will take place online via Microsoft Teams.
Eligible applicants will receive an email from the International Students Office with the Microsoft Teams link, together with the date and time of the interview and any further instructions.

Login credentials and detailed instructions will be sent by email by the International Students Office to all applicants registered for the Online English Language Exam.
