Research at Tor Vergata University of Rome
The University of Rome “Tor Vergata” develops thematic and inter-disciplinary research programmes with first-class institutions (at national and international level) and the best universities worldwide.
At present 99 projects are funded by the EU within the 7th Framework Programme and 42 projects are funded through other European and international programmes.
Within Horizon 2020 (the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation 2014-2020) 13 projects were submitted and approved, whereas 80 proposals are still being evaluated.
At national level, the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” is involved in 4 of the 54 Futuro e Ricerca - FIR (i.e. Future in Research) projects approved in 2013. As far as the Progetti di Ricerca di Interesse Nazionale - PRIN (i.e. Research Projects of National Interest, financed by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research - MIUR) are concerned, the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” ranks 12th for number of approved projects and 7th for the level of awarded co-funding.
Besides the recent Smart Campus project funded by the Lazio Regional Administration, the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” has started a number of research initiatives and partnerships with businesses and institutions, e.g. Italian Space Agency (ASI), European Space Agency (ESA), Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Fondazione Roma, IBM.
