European Union law for tourism The course covers the main legal characteristics of the European Union, with particular attention to the "Community model", i.e. to advanced methods of legal integration that developed within the European Community, now merged into the Union. The program opens with the historical origin of the Communities and the Union, then it highlights the peculiarities of the Community - and then of the Union - legal phenomenon, in contrast with other international organizations, on the one hand, and the federalist processes, on the other. We are, therefore, gradually introduced the EU's institutional framework and the main legal mechanisms that govern its functioning, the characteristics of primary law (treaties and principles), and derivative (acts of the institutions) of the Union, the primacy of the law of the Union over the national law of the Member States and in general the relationship between the two types of legal sources. In conclusion, it outlines the main lines of action for the Union support in the field of tourism and the relevant policies on related issues, such as protection of consumers. .
The first part of the course is dedicated to clarifying some basic terminological and philosophical questions, in particular related to the concepts of nature, environment, landscape, ecology, anthropocentrism, sustainable development, commons, common heritage of humanity. The second part of the course is aimed at illustrating the salient profiles of the relationship between man and the environment in the long historical experience from the ancient age to the modern age, with particular attention to the management and participatory aspects of pre-modern communities , the result of peculiar dynamics of anthropization of the territory and institutional structuring. The third part of the course concerns the tiring emergence of an ecological awareness and environmental and landscape policies in the contemporary world, starting from the international level up to those of the Italian state system and local autonomies, with hints at the emerging proposals to deal with challenges of the near future.

The main objective of the workshop on visual geography and travel writing is to present the various forms of odeporic writing, to introduce the most representative contemporary works and authors of the genre, in order to demonstrate how it is possible to transform the sensations experienced "on the road" into pages of fiction and more, using appropriate techniques and testimonies. Activities and exercises will also be proposed in order to encourage the students themselves to try their hand at this writing practice in its most varied forms (diary, short story, novel, comic strip, blog, etc.). Therefore, a more theoretical workshop part, reserved for the presentation of the main narrative forms of travel writing, the principles of communication, narratology, etc., will be followed by a practical and experimental part in which a series of guests will also be involved. Meetings with 'travel' writers will be organised to motivate students by example in the practice of writing for the narration and tourist promotion of places. The workshop is intended as a privileged space for training and discussion on the themes of narrative, storytelling, reading and travel 'reportage'.

The course is divided into a general part and a monographic part. In the first one the nodal theoretical orientations that characterize the history of the disciplinary studies will be investigated. Moreover, the most important methodological and conceptual tools that cultural anthropology uses for its specific study objects will be subjected to critical scrutiny. The monographic part will proceed in decoding the versatility of the uses and meanings assumed by "food" in the dimension of everyday life and in the dimension of individual and collective behaviors, with specific reference to contemporary gastronomic practices and the most widespread practices of food and wine tourism.

Knowledge of the protagonists of Italian Literature and their works, not only from a historical-literary perspective but also and above all from a territorial-space, will constitute the program of the course and its exercises. Literary tourism is a phenomenon that is currently receiving increasing attention and projects in this field are increasingly numerous and interesting: from “literary parks” itineraries, up to the most modern apps where you could add blogs, digital and collaborative literary maps etc. all of them are designed specifically to guide tourists in their literary walks. These different experiences will be the subject of a critical study and in-depth study, a concrete starting point for designing and/or developing literary paths in the context of an increasingly aware and qualified tourism at the cultural level, focused on our Literature and our Territory.
