The Master in SONIC ARTS program is designed to train graduate students in the implementation and management of musical products in the arts, with particular emphasis on technologies for music composition and all forms of entertainment. SONIC ARTS graduates will build their careers in fields ranging from arts to technologies focusing on music composition and sound engineering. The program offers three curriculum areas covering the full range of disciplines in today’s sound environment: Music, Technology and Archival Techniques. In particular, this degree enhances careers centered in sound processing, sound design, composition and techniques related to music information retrieval from audio and audio-video archives. The Master in SONIC ARTS can be completely achieved in online mode.
The Program
The program can be accomplished from one to three academic years of study (it depends from what it is stated on the course-list rather: dependent upon course list requirements). The duration of the program can be extended anytime. We assume by default that each student will graduate with one year. In case it won’t be possible, he/she can extend the program very easily.
The Master in SONIC ARTS can be completely achieved in online mode. The teaching takes 420 hours, for both methods. These hours are so divided:
– 357 hours through lessons;
– 63 hours through internships, project-work and with tutor.
Curriculum
The Master in SONIC ARTS is a 60 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) program, corresponding to 1500 hours of student’s time. Each student can personalize his/her program following two simple parameters
– 51 ECTS must be obtained through courses;
– 5 ECTS must be obtained through internships promoted by SONIC ARTS;
– 4 ECTS must be obtained through a final thesis.
Each student will present a personalized ‘course-list’ where there will be indicated the list of courses he/she intend to take. Deadlines and procedure how to fill this list will be communicated to the students.
The board of the Master might accept as part of the curriculum any activity related and/or complementary with some of the program’s requirements, recognizing up to a maximum of 20 ECTS, provided that the activities have been performed after you obtained your diploma which gives access to the master.
