On July 27th 2023, Tor Vergata University of Rome, represented by Prof. Massimo Federici, Vice-Rector for Research, received a visit from a delegation of the USA-Italy Working Group on Advanced Materials, Nanomaterials, and Biosensing, which includes Prof. Thomas Brown from the Department of Electronic Engineering.
The activities of the Working Group are part of the Bilateral Cooperation on Science and Technology between the USA and Italy, coordinated by Prof. Luigi Ambrosio from CNR as the Italian coordinator and Dr. Sofi Bin Salamon as the USA coordinator and program manager at the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR).
Prof. Massimo Federici noted “the significance of receiving the delegation and the ongoing and future collaborations with Tor Vergata, especially following the signing of the new Italy-USA bilateral agreement at the Farnesina (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) earlier in the year during the 14th meeting of the U.S.-Italy Joint Commission on Science and Technology Cooperation at which many of the Working Group were present”.
The presentation of our University's international activities by the Division of International Research and the main research lines of the Departments of Electronic Engineering and Biomedical and Prevention, respectively by Prof. Thomas Brown and Prof. Nicola Toschi, provided valuable points for discussion, highlighting how the ongoing collaboration could have further applications in the engineering sector with bioelectronics and medicine.
The meeting undoubtedly represents an additional opportunity for scientific collaboration that strengthens the academic bilateral relations between Tor Vergata and institutions in the USA.
