CIMETA – Interdepartmental Centre for Comparative Medicine, Aquaculture and Alternative Techniques

The Interdepartmental Centre for Comparative Medicine, Aquaculture and Alternative Techniques (CIMETA) is a research and service centre of the University of Rome Tor Vergata operating in the biomedical and veterinary fields. It supports interdisciplinary research, scientific collaboration, education and training, as well as services for researchers within and outside the University.
CIMETA supports basic, translational and preclinical research, including the study of disease mechanisms and the development and evaluation of drugs and vaccines. Its activities encompass comparative medicine and laboratory animal science, experimental and molecular methodologies, aquaculture, and the development of in vitro and other alternative approaches aimed at reducing or replacing the use of animals in research.
The Centre follows the 3Rs principles – Replacement, Reduction and Refinement – and provides facilities and expertise for animal welfare, experimental models, cell culture, molecular imaging, clinical biochemistry and haematology, flow cytometry, microbiology, genetics, toxicology and experimental histopathology.
CIMETA also includes activities in aquaculture, with facilities for marine and freshwater species and experimental models including zebrafish (Danio rerio) and medaka (Oryzias latipes).

The current CIMETA website lists Prof. Alessandro Terrinoni as Coordinator, although Tor Vergata's central “Centri autonomi” directory still lists Prof. Maurizio Mattei. Since the CIMETA site was crawled recently and also identifies Terrinoni in its current team and contact pages, I'd use Terrinoni for the new page but flag this discrepancy internally before publishing.
