Director: Professor Franco Giannini
The Microwave Engineering Center for Space Applications (MECSA) is an inter-university research centre based at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. It was established to coordinate the activities of Italian research groups working in microwave and millimetre-wave engineering, particularly for space applications.
The Centre carries out research, design, scientific coordination and consultancy, bringing together expertise in applied electromagnetics and electronics. Its main areas include antennas and propagation, electromagnetic compatibility, microwave circuits, devices and systems, remote sensing and environmental modelling.
MECSA currently brings together research groups from 14 Italian universities, including the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Sapienza University of Rome, Politecnico di Torino, and the universities of L'Aquila, Bologna, Ferrara, Florence, Marche, Messina, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Padua, Palermo, Perugia and Salerno.
